Local energy fuels rural independence.

Apache County officials, including the Board of Supervisors and Planning & Zoning Commission, are reviewing the county’s land use code (aka - ordinance) that guides the development of renewable energy like solar, wind, and storage projects.

The Facts

Icon of coal and gas plants

Coal & gas plants require 140x more water than solar farms.

Illustration of solar energy

Solar is the cheapest energy source and can be paired with farming and grazing.

Icon of solar and wind power

Sun & wind are free fuel sources, so utilities can’t raise rates based on rising costs.

A good ordinance means:

  1. More jobs and tax revenue for local communities
  2. A more reliable, independent and balanced energy system
  3. Cleaner air and water for future generations
  4. A way to conserve our water resources

But new rules could block clean energy development and limit landowner rights and independence, taking away local energy choices.
