Avangrid is pursuing the development of one GW worth of wind and solar ventures across the United States

US energy services and delivery company Avangrid Inc and the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the potential for up to 1 GW of wind and solar projects, with battery storage solutions, in Arizona and New Mexico.

  • The parties will conduct a feasibility study with the purpose of providing affordable, renewable energy to local residents and businesses.
  • NTUA is owned by a Native American tribe which was established in 1959 to address lack of utilities in the region.
  • Avangrid is part of Spanish utility group Iberdrola SA with over 8.6 GW installed renewable capacity and more than 25 GW in development including solar, onshore/offshore wind and battery energy storage.
