Companies that invest in climate technology align with consumer desires

Climate tech is seen as a way to mitigate the effects of climate change, but investments have not kept up with the Paris Agreement goals.

  • Despite declining positive perceptions of tech companies’ impact on the environment, people still turn to tech for solutions and believe tech companies have "a lot of responsibility" for driving innovation in sustainability.
  • Research shows that consumers expect major technology companies to lead the way in investing in climate technologies such as power infrastructure improvements, solar energy production and carbon sequestration.
  • To make meaningful progress in this space will take a collective effort from tech companies, financial institutions, government and energy companies.
  • The Venture Capital Alliance was recently formed with support from the United Nations, to help fund climate tech innovations while other companies are seeking Department of Energy grants or partnering with energy companies.
